Alan Tibaldeo, a.k.a. “Alan T”, from the Velvet Rope story, is a man of many trades.  Besides working the door at Space and other local nightclubs, he’s trained as an architect, and he makes dance music.  In the song “The Door,” performed by Alan T and remixed by Danny Tenaglia, Alan T chronicles the sometimes ruthless, sometimes comical world of nightlife, where “fierceness is always welcome.”  Here’s an excerpt:
