The instrumental, “While You Wait,” by Radioboxer plays in the Under the Sun story “Souvenir” by Jeremy Glazer.  That song and the rest of the album, Radio Drama, were recorded at The Shack North Studios in Hialeah.  “Every time we play a concert, we say we’re from Hialeah,” says J Dazza, bassist and guitarist.  None of the band members actually lives in Hialeah, but they record, practice, and play shows in “The City of Progress,” and so they consider it their adopted home.

Radioboxer even recorded a video inside of a mini-market (Tiny’s Food Store) in Hialeah.  The video was featured on Rev Miami.  Rev Miami has a regular feature called “Big City Breakdown” where they ask local musicians to perform, unedited, in a scenic location around town.  Click here to watch that video.

You can keep up with Radioboxer and their live performances here.  In March, they play at the free Carnaval on the Mile in Coral Gables.

Rev Miami celebrates its one year anniversary on Friday, Feb. 19.   Radioboxer and other Big City Breakdown bands  play at White Room.

Why We're Telling These Stories

From Abe Rich's nephew...

On behalf of my family, friends and those that were close to my Uncle - thank you! It is truly a treasure to have the piece recorded and available for us and future generations to cherish. The story really captures his character, persona and spirit. Abe was a simple man, a man who struggled to survive during a tragic era in our history. His traumas and survival instinct kept him alive in Europe, Israel and in Miami as he worked till he could no longer stand up. As it said on his shop wall... "There is no substitute for hard work." I believe you and everyone at WLRN work very hard to provide us with wonderful programming and go above and beyond your call of duty. Thank you very much.
