Tim Calver is a Miami Beach-based photographer who uses freediving techniques to capture stunning underwater images. Listen to him explain how he shot this picture of a free diver and a humpback whale in Moorea.

South Florida is becoming a freediving hub, thanks in part to renowned Czech diver Martin Stepanek, who teaches here. Last year he set a world record by diving to 400 feet... on a single breath. Colleagues dubbed him the deepest man in the world.
Under the Sun won a Society of Professional Journalists award for best blog affiliated with a media outlet in Florida. Ruth Morris's piece, "Under Water, but Undeterred" earned an award for best continuous coverage in radio.
