WNYC executive producer, John Keefe, gave a quick overview of a journalism summit/experiment that took place in Little Haiti in the two days leading up to the event.  Journalists and producers from around the country, and from local media outlets WLRN and The Miami Herald, gathered in Miami to learn how to better connect with local communities that are underrepresented in the news media and that may have more access to mobile phones than the Internet.  You can learn a little  more about the two-day summit in this clip from The Takeaway’s Wednesday, June 30th show.

The Under the Sun radio special about the impact of the Haiti earthquake on South Florida  airs Saturday, July 17 at noon and Sunday, July 18 at 7 pm on 91.3 WLRN FM and 91.5 WKWM FM (in the Keys).
