Allison Langer

Allison Langer is a photographer and single mother of three young children. She was raised in Coral Gables, received her undergraduate degree from the University of Georgia and her master’s in business administration from the University of Miami. In 2000, she began her own business photographing children and families. She is the author of Fakers.

1. Where are you from?

Coral Gables. Born at Cedars of Lebanon.

2. How long have you been in South Florida?

43 years minus college at the University of Georgia and six years in Telluride, Colorado.

3. Which South Florida author would you most like to have with you on a deserted island and why?

Dave Barry. His off-the-cuff humor makes me laugh, and there is nothing better than laughing.

4. Word or phrase you forbid yourself from using in your writing?

And in life … fabulous.

5. Favorite thing about the tourist season?

Not one thing.

6. Color that most makes you want to vomit when you see it in South Florida?

Teal

7. Where would you rather be than in South Florida?

Montego Bay, Jamaica, at the Highland House reading by the pool with my best friends.

8. What’s your favorite thing about the off-season (non-tourist season)?

No traffic.

9. What does the rest of the world have totally wrong about this part of the country?

The small town feel of Coral Gables/South Miami … and that we are really nice.

10. In three words, how do you describe the experience of living in South Florida?

I am home.
