Miami author Edwidge Danticat-- featured in Under the Sun's recent episode on literary bright lights-- has won the prestigious and lucrative MacArthur "Genius" award. Danticat wrote a memoir to cope with the momentous year when her daughter was born, her father passed away, and her uncle died in an immigration detention center on the edge of the Everglades.
