A quick update from our Literary South Florida episode: acclaimed writer Chenjerai Hove, of Zimbabwe, has become Miami's first writer to be hosted through the Cities of Refuge program.
In honor of the Miami Book Fair International, WLRN is rebroadcasting our Literary South Florida episode Sunday night at 7. The episode is jam-packed: two "MacArthur Genuises," the creator of the "Dexter" character, aspiring poets and some talented and unpublished local writers. Miami author Edwidge Danticat-- featured in Under the Sun's recent episode on literary bright lights-- has won the prestigious and lucrative MacArthur "Genius" award. Listen in, as Mitchell Kaplan of Books & Books interviews Danticat about her experience as a Haitian immigrant in the United States and about her memoir, "Brother, I'm Dying."

Danticat wrote a memoir to cope with the momentous year when her daughter was born, her father passed away, and her uncle died in an immigration detention center on the edge of the Everglades.
